2007 New York Giants' Imperfections Are What Made Them Perfect

If you’ve followed the New York Giants for any length of time—whether casually or as a die-hard—you’ve learned one thing; they never make it easy.

Throughout history, the Giants are known for playing grind-them-out nail-biters that leave a fan a few days older than when the game began. But that’s part of the love-affair many have with this team. It’s one of the main reasons fans follow them so closely year in and year out. Whether they finish at 4-12 and 14-2, they’re good for at least 10 close games that get your adrenalin pumping like a 17-year-old on prom night.

Because of that ability to battle and keep things close, the annals of time have been kind to Big Blue. After all, they are one of most decorated franchises in NFL history, staking claim to seven NFL Championships, three Super Bowl Championships, 10 Conference Championships and 15 division titles.

I was asked to pick a Giants' player to interview. I would like to talk to any number of players on the team, but the truth is, I believe the story of the new season will be the Giants Defensive Line. This is one frightening group of football players.

This could be the deepest the G-men have ever been in that area and quite possibly the deepest in the NFL this year. I expect nothing less then a top three defense in the NFL leading in both Sacks and INT's.

A veritable tidal wave (as seen in photo) of pressure falling onto the entirely unprepared opposing offenses. There is good and then there are the Giants and what they have become.

Supeby Christopher Lane r Bowl Or Bust: The 2009 New York Giants

With a 2007 World Championship in their back pocket, expectations have never been higher for the New York Giants.

Last year was a major disappointment, especially after the Giants marched through the regular season to a No. 1 seed, only to fall to the hated Philadelphia Eagles in the playoffs.

Since then, Defensive Coordinator Steve Spagnuolo has left to take over the St. Louis Rams, RB Derrick Ward left via free agency, and the troubled Plaxico Burress was released amid legal troubles.

There will be new faces all over the field this summer, and to many it may feel like a new era is dawning for the Giants.
